5 reasons to bring your own mug to work

It seems the sensible thing to do, reject using disposable coffee cups and bring your own mug to work. But if you have a colleague that cares little about the idea, you can send him or her to this article.
Reason 1. Your personality can shine
Do you have your desk or cubicle personalized to your liking? A photo of your family maybe or mouse pad that was a gift. Maybe your computer wallpaper is one of a place you’d like to visit in the future? A reusable mug can say so much more about you that a paper cup can. Of course their is ecological point which I will cover later, but your choice of style, color or printed words can also reflect positively on you.
Reason 2. Stays Hotter or Colder for longer
You can get mugs that are insulated. So in summer, your cold drink stays cooler longer, while in winter your hot drink stays hotter longer. I don’t know about you but I can’t drink cold coffee that was hot (as opposed to ice coffee).
Reason 3. Reduce spills and accidents
You can get mugs and cups that have their own lid. This in itself can help reduce spills but also the weight of the mug helps too. A paper cup can get knocked over so easily because they are so light.
Reason 4. Always available
Paper cups can and do run out. Don’t be at the mercy of whoever is responsible for refilling the stock. You’ll never be caught out and be left without a drink.
Reason 5. Helps the environment
(note for me this is the most important reason, but I am including it last because it always gets used so often that people seem to tune out when they hear it)
The 3 Rs of being green are Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Bringing your own mug means you are doing the first 2 of these. You are reducing waste and reusing your own mug. There is no extra energy needed to produce more cups and no money that needs to spent on landfill sites (unlike other paper products most cups can’t be recycled because of their plastic lining).
So there you have it, 5 reasons to use a ceramic mug instead of paper cups. And they also make great gifts.
