All About Geo Storm

From the short time of three years, from 1990-1993, Isuzu manufactured the Geo Storm in Japan, which was sold in the United States by General Motors. Intended as a sport compact car, the Storm replaced the Geo Spectrum. It was available in a sedan and more commonly, in a three-door hatchback version.

When purchased new, consumers could expect to pay $10,930 for the Geo Storm and $11,650 for the more powerful GSi. The price difference could be due to the fact that the Storm had a SOHC I4 95 horsepower engine with a 9.1:1 compression ratio while the GSi had a 106L DOHC 130 horsepower engine with a 9.8:1 compression ratio.

In addition to the acceleration and handling, the fuel efficiency of the Storm was one of its many better characteristics. The Storm was available in both 5-speed manual and automatic transmissions. With a manual transmission, the Storm attained 29 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon on the highway and the automatic transmission attained 25 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway.

Standard features on the Storm included driver side air bag, power brakes, tinted glass, cloth seating, power steering, remote trunk release and AM/FM audio system. Optional features were air conditioning, rear spoiler, AM/FM cassette audio system and AM/FM/CD audio system.

Maintenance on a Geo Storm is the same as any other car: a well maintained automobile makes it longer-lasting and more dependable. However, replacement Geo Storm auto parts may be harder to find than those of most modern cars. You can consider searching online for replacement parts or you can visit local salvage yards to find reasonably priced parts, if used parts are acceptable to your needs. This often may be the only option that you will have when it comes to repairing your Geo Storm.
