Can You Be Your Own Bed Bug Exterminator?
Categorized: home | No comments
Fifty or sixty years ago, it was possible to be your own bed bug exterminator. During this time, there was a big outbreak of bed bugs. Bed bugs are little wingless insects that burrow into your mattress and multiply rapidly. And yes, the bed bugs do bite. A bed bug bite is a small red bump on the skin that itches. Bed bug bites are very frequent, and the insects can carry diseases.
Even if you see one or two bed bugs, make sure you take action right away, because there could be an entire nest somewhere inside your mattress. Bed bugs reproduce rapidly, even by the hour. If the situation gets to the point to where you see even a small group of bed bugs burrowed into your mattress, it has gone dangerously far. Washing your bedding or mattress won’t even get rid of the bed bugs that have invaded your mattress.
Do-it-yourself methods were widely used back in the 1950′s. These methods were actually very effective at the time. They would use poisons themselves to get rid of the bed bugs. Unfortunately, bed bugs these days have become more tough, stubborn, and hard to get rid of on your own. Most chemicals can kill some, or even most. But when it comes to these little creatures, every last one needs to be gone, or else they will come back.
The modern answer for getting rid of today’s generation of bed bugs is now made apparent: Call the exterminator, because these little guys aren’t going anywhere without professional intervention. Be sure to hire a company that has had much experience with bed bugs, because they are a hard species of insects to get rid of. A company that has had experience will know just about every U-turn and loophole the bed bugs will take in attempt to stay rooted in your mattress, and he or she will know how to handle the situation much better.
Hiring an exterminator to get rid of your bed bugs, once and for all, will also ensure that the best equipment will be used. Don’t be afraid to ask the pest control company questions beforehand to make sure you are hiring a credible, reliable company. Also make sure you are aware of all of the preparations the exterminators need you to do in your home before they arrive to get rid of the bed bugs.
