This way, you will not only be happy with your beautiful investment but you will also save more money in the long run because your hickory hardwood flooring will last for a very long time and you wont have to replace it soon. Caring for hickory floor is simple and easy. It is not a very difficult task so you can just do it yourself. Let us look at these secrets to cleaning and maintaining hickory hardwood floors without having to spend so much.

Tip no. 1 Prepare all the things that you will need, before anything else. This will save you time and effort later on. You will need mops, bucket, dishwashing liquid, and polyurethane coating.

Tip no. 2 Remove dust, debris, stains and dirt using a dry mop at least 2 or 3 times each week. However, mopping daily is also a good idea especially in high traffic areas prone to stains, spills and debris which might scratch the floor.

Tip no 3 Hickory floors must be washed at least once a week. If there are rugs over it, they must be removed and washed also. Again, dry mop the floor to get rid of dust and dirt, fill the bucket with warm water then add the ΒΌ cup dishwashing liquid and mix. Use only mild liquid cleaners instead of harsh detergents. Next, dip the mop into the bucket and squeeze it out and start wiping the floor.

Tip no 4 After all the floor sections are washed, buff it immediately using a dry mop.

Tip no 5 Prepare the polyurethane coating and apply it over your floor for a smooth and shiny finish. This can be done annually or twice a year.
