Agility courses are already familiar to those dog trainers who already passed the initiation of dog agility training. These agility courses are composed of various dog agility equipment created to test the skills of the dog in balancing, running, going through tunnels, jumping over obstacles, pausing in some box or table then going up the dog walk and finishing the entire agility course. These are not just simple setup of dog agility equipment because each positioning and phase needs to be according to accepted game rules. There can be changes in order of the obstacles but nonetheless, the safety of the dog must be always the priority.
Agility courses are categorized as preparatory to competition types. When preparatory agility courses are concerned, this means that the level of challenge present increases gradually as preparation to the competition types of agility courses. To name some of the popular agility courses, there are stand agility, jumping course and the power and speed course. The composition of standard agility is usually up to twelve to fifteen courses. The present dog agility equipment are contact, weave poles, tunnels and jumps. There are some obstacles repeated and the order and number of obstacles increase for higher level of challenge. The concept of jumping course is quite easy to grasp. The jumps are mixed with tunnels and weave poles as a variation so that your dog will not be tired of too much jumping. When the power and speed course is concerned, this level means that navigations and faults of your dog on proper execution of his skills are corrected and measured against time. The concept of this agility course is generally to sharpen the skills and make him ready for the competition types of agility courses.
The more advanced agility courses are junior’s course, gambler course and snooker course. The difficulties of these agility courses are determined by the mix of the dog agility equipment with variations on number, size and heights to intensify the level of competition. Generally, these agility courses are for the well trained dogs and sooner, these agility courses will just be a playground for your dog.
