Categorized: food and drink, home | 1 comment
The Cuisinart brew central is one of the finest coffee machines on the market today and should be cared for properly so that you can enjoy great coffee and also to improve the machines longevity. The following is a step by step approach to de-scaling and cleaning your Cuisinart Brew Central DCC-1200.
To Clean:
1. Switch the Cuisinart brew central off and disconnect from the mains. Make sure that the reservoir does not contain any water.
2. Take out the filter and ground coffee residue and dispose of them in the trash. Then remove the coffee pot.
3. In a warm soapy solution wash the coffee pot and filter basket and then allow it to air dry.
4. Using a lint free-cloth wipe the inside of the water reservoir and the warming plate. Allow the reservoir to air dry and wipe the warming plate with a dry cloth.
5. Using a damp cloth, wipe the exterior of the coffee machine and then wipe it dry with a clean tea towel.
6. Put all the components back together.
To De-Scale:
1. The Cuisinart brew central dc1200 will notify you when the system needs to be de-scaled as the ‘self-clean’ indicator will flash. When this happens, finish brewing your coffee and then switch it off to let it cool down completely.
2. Remove the filter basket from the machine and dispose of the filter and coffee grounds. Place a new filter inside and put the filter basket back in.
3. Make up a solution of four cups of white vinegar and 8 cups of water and pour it into the reservoir. Close the reservoir lid and return the carafe to the warming plate.
4. Press the ‘self-clean’ button and when the light remains static switch on the unit to start the de-scaling cycle. When the cycle finishes, the unit will beep 5 times before it shuts itself off.
5. Switch the unit back on again and check to see if the ‘self-clean’ button light is flashing or not. If it is it means that the cycle needs to be repeated with another water/vinegar de-scaling solution. If not, switch the unit off, replace the used filter with a fresh one and re-run the cycle this time with cold water to rid the smell of vinegar from your coffee machine.
Carrying out these steps as regularly as needed will ensure that your Cuisinart Brew Central DCC-1200 small coffee maker will operate at its best.
