Learn How to Apply Eyeshadow?

Finding the right makeup for your skin tone can be tough but finding an eyeshadow that makes your peepers pop without looking overdone is even tougher. As with any technique there are some basic tips and tricks when it comes to applying eyeshadow. The first is primer. If you have uneven skin or oily eyelids it is important that you prime your lids prior to application to insure long lasting wear. You do not need to purchase expensive primers a simple dusting of face powder or a swipe of cover stick will work wonders.
After you have primed your lids it is time to consider your base color. This is the color that will be predominantly on your lids so make sure you choose it wisely. When you have your base color swipe your brush or wand over the palette two or three times, blowing on the tip after you swipe it to remove loose powder that can fall into creases. In several medium length strokes sweep the shadow from the inner corner of your lid to the outer corner filling in any gaps after you have applied one coat.
After you have finished putting on your base color you can consider either using a highlighter along your brow bone or a defining darker shadow along the crease of your eyelid. If you choose a highlighter sweep a small amount along the arch of your brow and blend with your fingertips lightly to give it a diffused look. If you choose to use a defining shadow make sure that it is at least two shades darker than the base shadow. Load your brush and sweep along the crease of your eyelid from about midway along your lid to the outer corner. Smudge with your fingers to soften the definition and give a diffused look. If you are not sure what shadows to use the Elizabeth Arden eyeshadow quad comes with four shades perfect for defining and highlighting. Follow these easy steps and you will know how to apply eyeshadow in no time.
