Maintain Fitness With a Busy Schedule

Today it can be difficult to maintain a regular exercise routine with busy family life and long work hours. These are some excellent and creative ways to help find time to maintain a regular fitness program as well as a healthier diet with a busy work schedule.

Even if you have a job where you are active most of the time moving from one place to the next, lifting heavy objects or standing on your feet all day, its still important to keep track of what you are eating.

It can be much easier to grab those items out of the vending machines to snack on however, this is not going to help you achieve your fitness goals. Prepackaged food from the cafeteria should also be avoided. Instead take some cut-up carrot and celery sticks to snack on during work. Granola items and high fiber foods are also great replacements for vending machine snacks.

Its also important to look for ways to be more active when you are at work, especially if the job you perform doesn’t allow you to expend much energy. This is important in order to burn daily calories.

Doing small things throughout the work day can be very helpful with maintaining movement and good fitness such as tapping your feet as you sit at your desk, getting up periodically to walk from one end of the room to the other. Instead of hopping on the elevator to navigate from one level to the next, take the stairs. To beef up your routine on the stairs increase how fast you walk the steps each day or every few days. This is great for burning calories as well as for good heart health.

Take the opportunity of the time you have before and after work. If its possible for you to walk or ride your bike to or from work, then by all means take advantage of it.
