ROSETTA STONE as a language learning system

Categorized: tech | 1 comment

Several Rosetta Stone reviews are available on the internet. Not all of them are positive. In other words, some users thought Rosetta Stone to be a bit pricey for the material offered.

However one site, www.languagelearning-advisor.comreview-of-rosetta-stone-stone.html offered a thorough review. The opinion given included comments that Rosetta Stone does not offer enough content. There should be an approach to the language that gives the student a more personal feeling about learning it.

The system has not kept up with the advances being made in multi-media capabilities. There is a new version out wherein the company seems to have focused on marketing and making money rather than on the actual product and the benefits to the student. Prospective users are encouraged to use their demo before making an actual purchase of the system. One reason, there is no English translation.

Rosetta Stone focuses on teaching a new language from an immersion viewpoint. This leaves a lot of confusion for some people. Other necessary lacking components mentioned are no English instructions. The system is also considered to be lacking in content of language used in real life. This makes it difficult to depend on studying Rosetta Stone through levels 1 and 2 to prepare for participating in a conversation using the new language. Also missing is a grammar reference section. It is also felt by some that the program does not progress a new learner of language nearly fast enough.

However, there are persons who are very comfortable with Rosetta Stone. For these persons, there are many sites that offer used Rosetta Stone programs for purchase. These used systems can be purchased at online sites such as Amazon.com and eBay. They can also be purchased at auctions.
The Rosetta Stone language program is used by the United States government for its employees who, because of their jobs, must learn a foreign language.
