There are many options to lighten your skin. Of course everyone has heard of hydroquinone, but most people don’t know that there are other options. When you are getting ready to buy your next skin lightner compounds you should consider some of these options.
Vitamin C (also known as ascorbic acid in the chemical world) is widely available in numerous over the counter products. You should find easy to find Vitamin C in serum form, powder form, or cream form. And of course you can take a vitamin C supplement to make sure the interior of your body gets enough of this water soluble vitamin. Another option to consider in your facial care product is Kojic cream and arbutin. These 2 compounds are included in formulations in particular for those that have sensitive skin and those you have skin that is unevenly pigmented. Another option is licorice extract. This is an interesting herbal derived product that has anti-inflammatory properties.
Niacinamide is another anti-inflammatory compound that is useful and can work as a skin lightner. Other herbal derived extract that are useful to skin are fennel extract, kiwi extract, mulberry extract, pumpkin enzyme, green tea extract, white tea extract. All these herbal ingredients work on the level of melanin. The amount of melanin in your skin causes the skin to darken. The more melanin you have, the more dark your skin becomes. All these herbal compounds inhibit melanin associated discoloration. Hydroquinone is the most well known and established compound to lighten your skin. However there are new options being developed. In Europe, Rucinol, a depigmneting compound substance, has been created with success. It is in clinical trials.
Things to avoid: Avoid soy products that still have their estrogenic properties intact (meaning that they are estrogen containing). You want to avoid extra estrogen as this will cause uneven pigmentation (melasma). So pay attention to this in your diet and facial skin care products.
Skin lighteners have varying amount of effectiveness. It depends on your skin type and sensitivity to ingredients. Also, like most facial skin care regimens, it takes time and patience to see results. In time you should see reduction in dark spots and other areas of uneven skin tone. Your overall skin complexion should improve over time with a very careful skin care program with the right skin lightening cream.
