As the backyard BBQ season approaches, it’s time to fire up the grills and get ready for a great summer of entertaining. Few things are as fun as getting together with friends and family over the weekend. However, there is one thing that you can buy that is guaranteed to help you and your friends have a good time and that is an outdoor game. There have been a bunch of new games that have caught on and in this article we’ll cover some of the best outdoor party games.

The first one is a modern update to the classic horseshoes game. The game Cornhole us tremendous fun for people of ages (including kids) and despite the slightly risqué sounding name, it’s actually quite easy and fun. To play you have two slanted boards, each one having a hole in them. Teams take turn throwing bags filled with corn into the hole (hence Cornhole). The scoring is identical to horseshoes and after a few turns you’ll have it down pat. Most Cornhole boards are collapsible so it’s easy to pack it up and take it with you when you are done.

The next game that is becoming quite popular is a game called Kan Jam. In this game you have the same setup with teammates being on opposite sides, but you try to throw a Frisbee into the Kan (a makeshift garbage can). The beauty of this game is that your partner who is behind the Kan can help if your throw is off the mark. This keeps the game interactive and high scoring. These games tend to be fast paced with the average game lasting maybe 10 minutes. This is a great outdoor game if you have many guests because the teams keep turning over. This game is also very portable with the “kans” unfolding into a flat sheet.
