Where Do Repossessed Motorhomes Come From And Where Do They Go?

Some people never even heard of repossessed motorhomes and they don’t know about the great savings they can get when they find them and buy them.  This article talks about what repossessed motorhomes are and where they come from.

First of all, repossessed motorhomes come from different sources.  A lot of them come from individual owners who have borrowed money to finance an RV.  When they’re unable to make the payment, the bank or credit union will take possession of the RV in order to try and recover some of the capital that they lost on the loan.  Aside from private owners, repossessed motorhomes also may come from dealerships that have gone out of business.  When this happens you may have an opportunity to buy a brand-new RV that has never been used before as a repo.  This means you only have to pay 0.60 or $.65 on the dollar compared to what this motorhome would actually be selling for at a  dealership.

Most of the time repossessed motorhomes are being sold at a motorhome auction.  This is basically where a lot of motorhomes are taken by a lot of different lenders.  One of the advantages of going to motorhome auctions is that you have a lot of good deals all in one location.  Even though you have competition from other buyers there, you can still get an extremely good deal, especially since most of the buyers are not planning on paying more than the trade-in value or wholesale value for any of these RVs.  It is probably a good idea, to just go and watch the first time that you attend.  You will learn a lot, both about the buyers and the types of RVs that are generally sold.  If you’re just starting out, you probably want to avoid buying wrecked or salvaged RVs.  These types of RVs will be a little bit more risky than repo RVs will be to buy.
