Since the beginning of time people have been attracted to one another not just by looks alone, but also by scent. Cleopatra knew this and had a special scent devised for her that made men swoon over her. Since that time humans both male and female have been chasing after that one elusive scent that will make them feel desirable, will lead to success both socially and in their careers and will somehow magically made their lives different and better.
Of course most people don’t think of their search for the perfect scent in those terms they are just looking for something that makes them smell good and fits their personalities. Perfume manufacturers understand this and that is why there are more and more perfumes and colognes that hit the market each and every day. Nowadays there are so many different scents on the market that it makes one dizzy just thinking about it.
There floral scents, woodsy scents, celebrity fragrances, scents that smell like a sunny beach, and some that make you smell like fresh baked cookies, or your favorite fruits. There are simple clean scents and extremely complex scents. Perfume manufacturers talk about middle tones, undertones, and many different things that go into the manufacturing of perfumes and colognes, but for all their talk it all comes down to what scents the vast majority of the people like.
Perfume first became popular back in the days when daily bathing was simply not convenient. In those days carrying water, boiling it on a wood or coal burning stove or heating it over an open fire, and then filling and emptying an old cast iron bath tub was a lot of work. So wearing a perfume or cologne helped to cover the sweat and dirt smell until the next bath night arrived.
Today, perfumes and colognes are worn in order to attract the opposite sex or even to help gain get your career off the ground. Of course, there are times when the fragrance you wear even if it is well suited to you may not have the pleasing effect you are looking for. It isn’t likely that if you have your sights set on that attractive guy in the office and wear a perfume that reminds him of the woman who dumped him that he will give you the time of day.
Still as long as perfumes or colognes make you smell good and feel good about yourself perfume sales will continue to soar.
