Wooden Blocks: A Fantastic Toy
Categorized: games | No comments
Toys that inspire kids to boost their creativity levels, build new and wondrous things, and that can bring never ending fun are definitely the type of toy I would consider buying your child. Wooden blocks are a great choice for for any age and any gender. Kids love to be able to create new things, and wooden blocks are definitely one great way for kids to be able to do that.
There are quite a few different kinds of wooden blocks, and I will explore some of those.
Keva Blocks – These wooden blocks are precisely cut to fit a specific ratio. They do not have any interconnecting pieces, so you simply stack the wooden blocks on top of each other to be large, elaborate structures. The ratio is important because there is no glue and no interlocking pieces, simply the weight of the blocks and gravity holding them together. The pieces of wood are heavier than other types which is great for increased sturdiness, but some types of structures can’t be built because they will be too heavy.
Citiblocs – Citiblocs are lot like the Keva Blocks, but they use a lighter wood (and are less expensive). The lighter wood doesn’t give you as much stability when building up high (though there is definitely plenty of stability, just not as much as Keva blocks) but you can build some structures with Citiblocs that you can’t with Keva blocks because they are lighter.
Lincoln Logs – The classic wooden blocks, Lincoln Logs are a great toy. Each of the pieces is a type of log, and they can interconnect to allow you to build a very strong structure. But, you are limited to what you can build, because you can only build a log cabins, but there are many different types of cabins to build.
There are a lot of types of wooden blocks available on the market, and each has strengths and weaknesses. No matter what kind you buy, fun times are definitely around the corner.
